Testimonial – Jodi Masters

Prior to meeting with Stephanie, I knew I wasn’t happy with what I had in my closet. I felt like everything looked tired, dated and worn out and wasn’t doing anything for me. I was not excited about getting dressed and approached doing so as pure function. It sounded like fun to have a refresh and update. I wasn’t quite sure how Stephanie would help me, but I knew I needed some kind of a uniform and I figured, let’s just have some fun.

In my mind I didn’t think I had a lot to get rid of but I even pre-cleaned and ditched one large garbage bag of stuff, trying on every single piece for fit, asking myself did I wear it in the last year, did I even like it. I held onto a few special items for discussion/validation during our appointment.

Post-appointment, I now can see that I was able to identify and understand something really valuable: that I’m now successful enough in my career that establishing a uniform can also mean dressing to reflect my personality, my expression and my quirkiness. The notion of a visual manifestation of my inner self was the intangible value beyond the physical service. Yes, my budget and not wanting to accrue stuff was taken into consideration – I’m not particularly even into clothes – and yes another two garbage bags were filled for donation and resale. Yes I found lots of new ways to combine what I have, with fresh eyes. Yes I now know what my uniform can be. But the powerful emotional sense of identifying how I can be myself in the world, manifested in my clothes no matter what I have going on, has been huge.
